Prayers for the Sick of the Parish Every Sunday we remember those of the congregation who are unable to be with us due to illness or infirmity. We also remember those who have gone before us and their anniversary falls during that week. St Oswald’s has a Prayer Group who meet during the day and a further group who meet on Thursday evenings. It would be wonderful if you could remember the community, the congregation present & past in your prayers. Shirley Barnwell Evelyn Gilmour Margaret Ogg Archie Stanners Peter Scoles Betty Smith Joan Whyteside Anne Young Let us pray for the sick and suffering: He healeth those that are broken in heart And giveth medicine to heal their sick Almighty and immortal God, giver of life and health: We beseech thee to hear our prayers for thy servants, for whom we implore thy mercy, that by thy blessing upon them and upon those who minister to them of thy healing gifts, they may be restored, if it be thy gracious will, to soundness of health, and give thanks to thee in thy holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Bringing back the Birch! Gift of Trees for Glasgow Church From paper called “Scan” May 1967 The Glasgow Tree Lovers’ Society has recently gifted £35 worth of trees and shrubs for the landscaping of the grounds in front of the new church of St Oswald’s Kings Park Glasgow. The trees will be three groups of silver birches and the shrubs – mostly cuprus-sus – will be used to line the main paths to the church. Work is already in hand to have the rest of the area from the church to the road grassed for lawns. NB: In the September magazine, you saw those very silver birch trees bedecked in pink ribbons for “step all over cancer” fundraiser promoted by Christina and Lesley-ann. StOM Page 5
