Moises AriAs THE ESSENTIALS Favorite part of summer: Women in less clothing Favorite summer memory: Surfing in Hawaii Favorite cookout food: A burger Moises Arias first made an impression on Hollywood by playing the hilariously mischievous Rico on Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana television show. The comically gifted actor has been in the business since the age of 10 and has two film projects on the horizon that should help take his talents into adulthood. He can be seen in the comedy Kings of Summer this summer and will also appear in the sci-fi film Ender’s Game this holiday season. What was it that drove you to acting at such a young age? I was really shy when I was younger. My mom put me into an acting class to see if being in front of people and performing would get rid of that shyness. It just started going from there. What did you learn from working on Hannah Montana? The show taught me everything I know about acting. It let me improvise. I worked with tremendous actors, writers and directors. It let me see different aspects of the business and I learned professionalism. You had a lot of success as a child actor. How difficult is it to transition into being an adult actor? Not a lot of child actors transition successfully. An example of a successful transition is Shia LeBeouf. He chose his roles very well and he’s a respected actor now. I really respect his work. It’s really difficult to transition. Your role in Kings of Summer has been greatly embraced by critics. Does it feel good to be recogniz ed in that way for a more grown up role? Absolutely. That’s the main goal. The two films I did last year; Kings of Summer and Ender’s Game, those are my two favorite roles that I have ever gotten to do. They are so different from each other and so different from anything else I have ever done.
