$HOPPINGLIST the Funko Funko and their line of toys are a big part of the stndrd office’s décor—we are huge fans! We spoke with Shawndra Illingworth, a sales associate for Funko, about one of our favorite companies. How do you envision your products being used by the fans that buy them? Many of our fans send pictures of their collections and typically they have them displayed on shelves within their homes and offices. From my experience, I have a son that enjoys taking them out of the box and playing with them. What kind of person buys your product? There was a day that we could say that your typical ‘nerd’ was our biggest collector, but that has changed. We have moms, dads and kids now collecting. They could be your local police chief, a teacher at your school or even the person sitting next to you at work every day. Is there one item or property that stands out in the history of Funko? Star Wars pushed us to the next level when we signed with Lucasfilm. That property is going strong with the release of our Pop! Star Wars items. Recently, our Walking Dead and Game of Thrones lines have been KILLIN’ it in the sales department. What can we expect from Funko in the future? We are growing thanks to the popularity of our Pop! Vinyl Figures. We want to make sure that we aren’t a ‘fad’ and that we are on top of the hottest trends and adding properties constantly. We also plan on trying out new things— board games being one of them. Keep an eye out!
