By Hallie Hart Stillwater News Press I n college, it’s easy to fall into a rut of constantly eating the same kind of food. My freshman year, I ate either pasta or pizza at one Italian restaurant nearly every day until I realized it was time for some variation. From Eskimo Joe’s to Hideaway, Stillwater is home to some iconic restaurants, but you can’t use your meal plan at those places. Don’t think that the only good places are away from campus. OSU offers a variety of dining options that will keep you from missing home-cooked meals too much. Best of all, your meal plan applies to on-campus restaurants, so you don’t have to worry about spending an unreasonable amount of money. If you’re looking for a gourmet meal, go to... If you’re looking for a balanced meal, go to... If you’re looking for allergy-free options, go to... THE RANCHER’S CLUB Location: The Atherton Hotel You might feel like you’re a sophisticated socialite instead of an ordinary college student when you eat here, and luckily, your meal plan will pay for it. Although you’ll roll through the meal plan quickly if you go to Ranchers every day, it’s the place to go for a high-class dinner with friends or to treat yourself to some fancy food. The menu is varied, from steak to chicken wraps to pasta. The most convenient aspect of The Ranchers Club is its mobile app. If you’re craving a burger or some fettuccine alfredo for lunch, place a Ranchers order before your early morning class starts and choose the time you want to pick it up later. RED EARTH KITCHEN Location: Student Union Red Earth Kitchen offers a range of tasty food made in Oklahoma. It isn’t open for dinner, but it serves breakfast and lunch throughout the year. Start your day with the breakfast options, including biscuits, breakfast burritos, eggs, potatoes and more. Each day at lunch, Red Earth Kitchen has a different menu. It usually serves salad, a meat, a bread, a vegetable and some other side, such as macaroni and cheese or black eyed peas. Red Earth Kitchen is the perfect way to keep yourself from turning to fast food all the time. Make sure to eat there when the Thanksgiving menu is offered, featuring turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, rolls and orange cranberry sauce. THE NATURAL Location:North Dining If you have to follow a gluten-free diet, you might wonder where to find food on campus. Don’t worry, because every item on The Natural’s menu is gluten-free. Although I can eat gluten, I get food at The Natural because it’s good and healthy. It also offers sunbutter for people who have peanut allergies, dairy substitutes that are provided upon request and vegetarian options. The menu includes salads, flatbreads, hot paninis and cold sandwiches. My favorite item is the margherita flatbread pizza, which is topped with basil, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. 14 STILLWATER SURVIVAL GUIDE 101 | 2018
