The Dives & The Irridium

I recently had the chance to see The Dives , several times , during their NYC area tour . To be honest , my first encounter with the bands ’ music came as a post on a KISS fan page . With lead vocalist and guitarist Evan Stanley having a well known KISS parent , the music fan in me was naturally curious about this next generation .
I was impressed on several levels ; the group was neither an extension of one member nor a sub par quartet riding on the coat tails of a famous last name . These young men were not only talented but they functioned with a solid chemistry that translated into well written material .
The audience was not a sea of KISS devotees but instead was there to hear this particular band . In general , the New York City crowd s are serious about their music , therefore , the interest in this band was genuine . The performances were energetic and entertaining with each band member commanding their designated instrument . The set lists consisted of a combination of original pieces and a few well chosen covers .
Having the chance to speak with the boys , a bit , I learned they had only been together since April . Having only been in formation for months , they certainly performed as though they were together for years . Stanley , Guitarist Mike Lefton , bassist Sergio Ortega and drummer Jimmy Meier have already proven to have major potential .
