When Conan’s long-time dream of hosting NBC’s “The Tonight Show” became a reality for
him, I celebrated. That he made his way through some not so easy times, including NBC not
having faith in him or the show and the press being critical of his hosting skills at the start of his
“Late Night” run, was certainly something to be admired. As many of you reading this might
already know, it didn’t last. NBC yanked the rug out from under Conan, Andy and their “Tonight
Show” after a mere 7 months in 2010. Conan handled NBC’s betrayal with a style, grace and
class rarely seen in show business or in life, for that matter. He not only took care of his staff and
crew financially out of his own pocket, he gave back to his fans by creating The Legally
Prohibited From Being Funny On Television Tour which found Conan, Andy and the band
touring 30 cities throughout the summer of 2010.
