Add STEAM to your annual PD goals to help you develop attainable aspects and hold yourself accountable. Use standards (NVAS, NGSS, 21st Century Learner) to steer integration pathways. Make STEAM the focus of your Enrichment committee, Artist-inResidence or After-School programs or PD. Find a field trip destination that fits. Join forces with administration, colleagues, PTA to foster full circle learning, promote collaboration and home to school connections. Build a STEAM Team! Kimberly Olson has been teaching Art Education at an elementary school on the Seacoast of New Hampshire for 13 years. She has a passion for making cross-curricular connections through her everyday Visual Art and Art History curriculum. She has developed specialized curricula specific to this quest, including ArtWrite!, STEAMlab & MuseArt which she shares with students through school, after school program and museum settings. As a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, she based her nature lab on the one she spent so many hours in as a student. She is currently implementing a STEAM-based curriculum with her students.
