Art creation in CAPE classrooms takes many forms: painting,
students to rethink, revise, and re-create/experiment based on
sculpting, writing, dancing, acting, photographing, building…
new guesses and assumptions.
Document
CAPE trains teachers and artists on how and why classroom work
should be documented- by the students and the educators.
CAPE provides cameras, audio recorders, journals, and portfolios
to collect student and teacher work from start to finish. Such
rigorous documentation is similarly central to scientific
investigations, where the careful tracking of conditions, variables,
controls, measurements, anomalies, and outcomes is vital in
determining the strengths and weakness of a hypothesis and the
design of an experiment. By documenting hypotheses, data, and
conclusions, students and teachers alike can capture progress
over the course of a project.
