In ELA, plot or story sequence is a significant concept. Students can validate their understanding of sequence by creating tableaus of the beginning, middle, and end of a story or book. Other fantastic tableau-applicable lessons include comparing/contrasting characters (human Venn diagram of tableaus), main idea/details (human circle map), and theme. Mathematically, students can use tableau to represent the various sequential operations in PEMDAS, molding their body into parentheses, exponents, etc. Place value is also an important sequential math concept. Teacher prompt: In groups of three, tableau the ones, tens, and hundreds place. Third grade students tableau place value, starting with the ones place to the right, the tens place in the middle, and the hundreds place on the left. 33
