Thomas Dullaghan
Mobile Protective Services Branch Administrator
My name is Thomas Dullaghan and I am very fortunate to have been given the opportunity by
Securitas Security Services Ireland Ltd to start a new career path.
I joined the Defence Forces in Ireland in 1988. I served as an infantry soldier in the 27th Infantry
Battalion based in Aiken Barracks Dundalk from 1988 to 2000 (13 Years) I served overseas with
the 67Th Infantry Battalion in 1990 and served in various rolls within the battalion during these
years.
I joined the CIS (Communications Information Services) of The Defence Forces in 2000 and
completed a communications operative’s course and also a detachment Commanders course.
I followed the educational route within The Defence Forces and achieved getting an electronic
engineering degree in 2008 and worked as a Technician and Administrator in both Company and
Directorate level. I worked in IT Operations, Defence Forces Headquarters and Director of
Communications during my time in The CIS Corps.
My time in The Defence Forces is remembered as a close-knit family with amazing comradery.
A life less ordinary is a slogan used by the Defence forces and extremely apt.
I always answer when asked that The Defence Forces is not a job but rather a way of life.
I have now started a new career as a Branch Administrator in Securitas Security Services Ireland
Ltd in their Headquarters in Clonee Dublin since February 2019 and the comradeship among the
staff here is hearth warming and was something I thought I would see the end off after leaving
The Defence Forces, But the staff in Clonee have it in spades and have made me feel very
welcome indeed.
The opportunity to grow and advance within the company is available to all employees and it is
indeed an exceptional company to become a member off.
The Irish side of the company is run by it’s Irish president Ray Hoare and looking at his
advancement within the company it is amazing and tells the tale that a rewarding work-path is
available if you wish to advance.
I would highly recommend this career path for any ex or soon to be ex servicemen and women of
The Defence Forces.
