sexual abuse Protocols for Reporting Sexual Assault/Abuse At times, we are faced with some very difficult situations in our schools. Despite our hopes and efforts, some students will be sexually assaulted by family members, peers, and strangers. If you are approached with information, stories, or a dilemma, understand you probably are a “first responder.” Please know you have been chosen by the reporter as someone special. You should feel good that this relationship exists and ensure the reporter is properly treated. All school personnel are mandated DCFS reporters. Call DCFS at 800-25ABUSE (800-252-2873) to report.    The protocols outlined below are designed to help district employees respond to disclosures appropriately.
