WORKLOAD AND MORALE
School leaders expect managing teacher workload to be a challenge over the next
12 months – and at the same time, most feel guilty if they leave work on time and
say their family life has been negatively affected by their role. School leaders remain
committed to their roles, and the majority expect to be in post for the next
three years, but governors are worried that the demands of headship are
an obstacle to headteacher recruitment. Nonetheless, school
leaders have not lost sight of their ultimate motivation and
aim, with almost all feeling that they have a positive impact
on the future prospects of children and young people.
