Created for ArtBasel in 2016 the installation “317 prepared dc-motors, paper bags, shipping container, 2016” is presented in France for the first time. There is a container whom surface is covered by 300 paper bags. The visitor is invited to stay quiet and focus on what he sees and hears. In fact system makes the bags move so that they produce rustlings and small moves. First presented at Fine Arts Museum of Le Locle the work “600 prepared dc-motors, 58 kg wood”, 2017 covers the floor of the room with small wooden sticks moved b systems fixed on wood bases. This shows Zimoun’s capacity to restage an installation in interaction with a new context and space. Cardboard is one of Zimoun’s “historical” materials directly linked to his iconic series. For this show in Paris he created “658 prepared dc-motors, cotton balls, cardboard boxes 70x70x70 cm”, 2017.

Born in Switzerland in 1977, Zimoun has been playing several instruments since its childhood, while practicing the drawing, animation and photography. This self-taught develops since the beginning of the 2000’s a work of sound sculptures, presented in a lot of personal or collective exhibitions in Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America. Using rough materials and systems of engines low tech, his works involve the sound and visual perception.
