Long thought to be a balance between water availability and overheating, they’ve shown that it’s not that simple. The research, led by Macquarie University’s Associate Professor Ian Wright (Biological Sciences), reveals that in much of the world the key limiting factor for leaf size is night temperature and the risk of frost damage to leaves. The study was published as a cover story in Science in September. Find out more — 7 —
