from US 89; it can be viewed from the steep cliff above. The overlook is 4,200’ above sea level
and the Colorado River is at 3,200’ above sea level making the overlook a 1,000’ high from river
basin. We reached the view point around 8 PM and sunset was at 8.35 PM. The hike was not
long but the loose sand and uphill dirt road made it difficult to walk comfortably. There were
thousands of other tourists and photographers crowding the place. We found some dare devils
posing on the cliff when some other not-so-brave ones crawling on their chest and stomach to go
to the edge and get a full view of the meander. One can camp on
