surrounded by miles of mesas and buttes, shrubs, trees and windblown sand, all comprising the
magnificent colors of the valley. All of this harmoniously combines to make Monument Valley
a truly wondrous experience.
We arrived at around 4 PM, purchased the park pass which costs 20 dollar for 1-4 people and
valid for 4 days. There is a 17 mile scenic drive in the valley which starts from the visitor center
parking lot, goes all the way down to the valley makes a circle surrounding the mittens and
mesas. In this scenic drive there are 11 view points but we realized that any point was a view
point. We were mesmerized by the art of nature. The weather had improved and sun rays started
coming out of the clouds now and then. It takes around 30 to 40 minutes to cover the 17 mile
drive, but normally people take 2 to 2.5 hrs to enjoy and praise the beauty of nature-made
sculptures all across the valley.
As soon as we started our journey we realized it’s going to be bumpy. The road was completely
rugged and we found small cars struggling to keep the wheel straight. Luckily there was no dust
due to rain, but it made the road muddy and more challenging to drive. Throughout the journey
we got sunny brightly lit areas and also overcast cloudy points. After 2 and half hours of rollercoaster ride when we returned to visitor center we felt like all our bones were broken into small
pieces. But it was worth it.
