The Beatles ; From Love Me Do to The End By Jack Connolly
If you ask someone with half a brain what the greatest band of all time is , chances are they ’ ll say The Beatles . I wholeheartedly agree . The Beatles were so talented in every way ; Ringo Starr is perhaps the greatest drummer of all time , George was maybe the most underrated songwriter in history , and the greatest writing duo of all time was formed with Lennon and McCartney . The Beatles were like a light bulb ; in the beginning and throughout their longevity , they gave the world light and brought joy to everyone . But all light bulbs burn out eventually . And when The Beatles broke up , nobody could find another light bulb to replace them . But just because they broke up , it doesn ’ t mean we can ’ t appreciate the amazing music they made together . The Beatles were great because of their versatility and creativity .
When you think of The Beatles , what song do you first think of ? Hey Jude ? A Day In the Life ? Something ? Come Together ? Get Back ? There are so many great songs to choose from , and all of them have something unique to bring to the table . Throughout their career , The Beatles had so many different sounds , from the poppiness of their first few albums , to the weird ( but not too weird ) trippy tone of Rubber Soul . They even explored different sounds within their own albums , but it never seemed unnatural . That ’ s because The Beatles understood how to use momentum in their albums ; every song effortlessly leads into the next one . They understood what an album was and what songs fit with each other . They didn ’ t follow trends ; they made them . Sergeant Pepper ’ s Lonely Heart ’ s Club Band is a dozen genres that fit seamlessly into 39 minutes of some of the best music ever written . The Beatles are indefinable and genius band who ha .
In addition to being indefinable , The Beatles redefined music . Even though it would have happened anyways , they led the British Invasion ( British music being mainstream and popular ). Sergeant Pepper ’ s Lonely Heart ’ s Club Band was the first concept album , and it was also the first pop album to feature an entire marching band to perform the music . Not only is Sgt . Pepper ’ s a fantastic album from a musical aspect , it ’ s also an unrivaled technical achievement . And The Beatles didn ’ t stop there . Every one of their albums broke some sort of record . Their first album , Please Please Me , was the first pop album to have more than 10 songs , with a record-breaking 14 tracks . When they stopped touring , The Beatles went from being just a great band to being the greatest band of all time .
With their unrivaled versatility and genius , The Beatles may be the greatest band of all time . No other band had the success that they did while also managing to write their own songs . They also managed to not become completely terrible , narcissistic people . Tragically , they broke up on April 10 , 1970 , but their impact on music is unforgettable and unrivaled . The Beatles changed lives and changed music on their own , while many bands and artists of today rely on crutches like autotune and other digital enhancements ( there ’ s a reason popular musicians nowadays don ’ t have many live albums ). The Beatles were raw , honest , and unabashedly original , which is what made them the greatest band of
