Six Years of flourishing: Final Thoughts

Legacy is such a deep and meaningful word in my opinion. The term can best be described as how someone is remembered and the specific contributions he or she made to their workplace. During my six years as Principal I am very proud of the many achievements and improvements I have had the privilege of leading. There have been many new opportunities and initiatives introduced into our school community which are supported by a very dedicated and committed staff.

Over the course of my time here we have seen a 25% increase in enrolment which has ensured security of employment for all staff and the subsequent posts of responsibility that came with increased numbers, along with excellent subject choices at Junior and Senior Cycle.

I am very proud of the fact that we were the school with the highest growth rate in WWETB during this time.

Teaching & Learning was core to all decisions and over the course of the 6 years we

increased student attainment. We had a very positive review in 2016 of the Whole School Evaluation conducted in 2013 prior to my appointment. We had a good incidental inspection in September 2018, and we particularly welcomed the comments in relation to the very positive atmosphere in school.

We Introduced new subjects namely: coding, phys chem, and a new science plc course to respond to the needs of industry in this area. I also oversaw roll out of the new JCT which is fully embedded in our school.

This is an exciting opportunity for me personally. I look forward to the challenge of my new role and to end my career in a growth area, where I plan to make a difference!

I wish St. Paul’s Community College nothing but the very best for the future, and I look forward to seeing it go from strength to strength. It has truly been a privilege to have led some of the best teachers and students in this country. I have had many happy memorable days here.

I want to thank everybody who supported me in my role: students, parents, teachers, Hilary our Librarian, Inclusion Support Assistants, Cleaning and Care-taking staff. I wish to acknowledge the unfailing support of the administration staff Jennifer, Ann and Linda. I am truly going to miss you all. I wish to acknowledge the support of the Chief Executive Mr. Kevin Lewis and all staff in WWETB. I want to acknowledge the support of my Deputy Principals Mr. Gallagher, Mr. Keane and Ms. Murphy who were unfailing in their support.

I wish to thank the Board of Management and Parents’ Council for their support also. I greatly appreciated it.
