Property and Safety Matters In recent times a number of improvements have been made to our St Margaret’s and Holy Cross properties. If you haven’t noticed, check out the new reverse cycle heating and cooling in both halls. the new carpet in the small hall and the new blinds on the windows nearest the organ in the church. There is also a new colour photocopier in the office. In the not too distant future, probably during the school holidays, the rear carpark will be upgraded again and there are also plans to erect barriers in some areas to prevent drivers parking their cars on grass areas adjacent to the carpark. An important safety issue has also been identified and your assistance is required. When exiting the property on to the Antill Street service road it is most important to look left as well as right. There have been some quite near misses recently as cyclists coming from the left, often at high speed, nearly collide with exiting cars. We tend to think of that piece of road as a dead end from which nothing comes, but that is not the case. It is especially a problem at tis time of year as the light fades around the time many are cycling home. Enquiries are to be made as to whether the ACT authorities might add a good light overhead or put in some appropriate signage. Another option might be for the church to put in a STOP sign. In the meantime, please take great care and remember the need to give way to all traffic, including bikes, travelling in either direction along that road as you exit the church grounds.
