Coming back in to the festival on the Sunday afternoon, I approached its grounds through the
Canberra Centre, and wondered about the festival’s impact on local business. How would
business-owners feel about a potential relocation of the festival to more spacious outdoor
surroundings? Surely it would hamper business? Perhaps the pros and cons of continuing to
stage the Multicultural Festival in the compact (claustrophobic, some would argue) environment
of the Civic town centre would balance out. A look at business figures for this weekend may
prove instructive.
