Worship in January As was discussed at our Annual Congregational meeting, we have been exploring holding worship services in January jointly with other North Canberra churches, with the idea being that we rotate around different churches for the different Sundays in January. We are undertaking a trial of this concept, by holding joint services with St Columba’s on the 14th and 21st of January 2018. So on the 14th of January there will be no worship service at St Margaret’s, but we will join with St Columba’s to worship in their church (7 Farrer St, Braddon) at 10am. Then on the 21st January, the St Columba’s people will join with our worship at our church at 10.30 am. For Sunday 31 December 2017 and Sunday 7th January 2018, we will not have worship at St Margaret’s at 10.30 am. Worship will be wherever you choose to worship. On these 2 Sundays you will have the opportunity to share in worship in any other church in Canberra or beyond. The time of worship for other Uniting churches in North Canberra is City Uniting 10 am St Columba’s 10 am St Ninian’s 9.30 am Gungahlin 9.30 am As well as giving you a choice as to where you go, it was also suggest- ed that we designate a worship service that a number of us would go to on the 31st December and 7th January, so that those who wanted to worship with others from St Margaret’s would know that at that worship there would be present some others from St Margaret’s. The two desig- nated worships are the 9.30 am service at Holy Cross on the 31st of December, and the 9.30 am service at St Ninian’s on the 7th of January. So we in the St Margaret’s community will be trying out a different way of doing worship during January and on the 31st December. Hopefully we can prove that a leopard can change its spots – at least for a short period. We are in an era where we need to explore new ways of doing church, because the old ways need refreshing. Blessings for Christmas and the New Year for you and your family and friends. Shalom. - John Goss Chair, Church Council St Margaret’s News 12 December
