Retreat Session 4 was titled ‘Camera Shots’. We were to quietly contemplate the idea taken from photography of ‘Long Shots ‘ranging through to ‘Extreme Closeups’. This idea was applied to how we view certain aspects and events in our life and dealings with people and situations. We then discussed ‘Personal Discernment and a Daily Examen’ which is a process of looking back through our day and finding God in it. A brainstorming session after this produced a whiteboard of practical ideas from a church angle. We used the ‘Wesleyan Quadrilateral’ – which focused our thoughts within the areas of Experience/Reason/Tradition/Scripture. Our day concluded with participants sharing their ideas from the day and then the creation of a 5 Word Prayer. Some of these Chris was going to use in the St James’ service the next day. Some discussion was had on holding a shared, St Margaret’s/ St James’, weekend here next year. The retreat was a peaceful but thoughtful experience spent in beautiful surroundings. Copies of the printed material are available from the participants or Chris.  St Margaret’s News 7 Pam Kelly December 2015
