Diary Date: 16 October 2016
Our worship service at St Margaret’s on 16 October will be a joint service
with St James. The theme of the service will reflect Anti-Poverty Week
which starts on that day.
The main aims of Anti-Poverty Week are to:
- Strengthen public understanding of the causes and consequences of
poverty and hardship around the world and in Australia; and
- Encourage research, discussion and action to address these problems,
including action by individuals, communities, organisations and governments.
Everyone is encouraged to help reduce poverty and hardship
by organising an activity during the Week or taking part in an activity
organised by others.
Poverty and severe hardship affect more than a million Australians.
Around the world, more than a billion people are desperately poor.
In Anti-Poverty Week, YOU can help fight poverty and hardship!
Contributions Wanted
All members of St Margaret’s and the broader Hackett-DownerWatson community are invited to contribute articles and photographs about things that have happened or are going to happen at
the St Margaret’s/Holy Cross complex or in the local community.
Articles about members of the community’s own involvements in
things of interest to others in the community may also be
submitted for potential publication.
The deadline for material for the next issue is 9 September, with
that issue being published on 16 September. Material should be
given to the editor Brian Rope or to Lynda at the church office. It
may be handwritten or typed. It may be posted, emailed or
personally delivered.
The Editor reserves the right to edit, or even not use, material.
