own subsidiary companies.
The Hospice’s Care Services

which enable them to review
the quality of care provided by
all our clinical services. The
committee reviews:

ccidents, incidents or
near misses
• Lymphoedema Clinics • Drug errors
• Inpatient care • Patient falls
The total value of services
provided by the hospice in
2018/19 was £10,588,070. The
NHS statutory income, which
contributes to our core charitable
palliative care services, has
remained static despite costs
having increased. Over £7 million
of our funding was generated • Complaints or concerns
• P

• Service developments
The Care Services Governance
Committee then provides quality
assurance to the Board.
5.2 Research
In year we have further
strengthened our commitment to
research by appointing Professor
Sue Read of the University of
Keele to our Board.
The hospice has continued to
maintain its research activity
and has participated in or
is undertaking a number of
research studies to benefit future
patients including:
• With University College London
we are a site for a study called
The Prognosis in Palliative
care Study II (PiPS2). This study
closed in April 2019.
• With King’s College London
we are a site for a cohort study
called C-Change Work stream 4:
Testing a case-mix classification
in palliative care. This study
closed in September 2018.
