FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK Welcome to SRAinformed, our premier publication dedicated to engaging our community as we share Senior Resource Association’s (SRA) progressive view on everything related to senior care. This issue explores how older adults can remain on the move and connected to each other and their loved ones. The demand for our Nutrition, Adult Day Care and Transportation services is growing rapidly. As the aging population increases, so is the demand for our services. How we stay connected to seniors and their families is vital. On that note, the 2017-18 season was a big success for SRA. For the 3rd year running, our sold-out Pro Am Charity Golf Tournament raised dollars and critical awareness for Meals on Wheels. The biggest winners were our community’s homebound seniors who depend on our daily meal delivery as a primary source of nutrition and, sometimes, their only source of socialization. This year, enough funds were raised to provide 9,517 hot, nutritious meals. More than 170 women flocked to Let’s Flamingle! for our 13th Annual Bingo Luncheon. This year’s event at Oak Harbor raised even more funds, and lots of fun, on behalf of Adult Day Care and Meals on Wheels. This annual event is now one of the most anticipated luncheons of the season. Each March we celebrate Meals on Wheels volunteers while raising awareness for our in-demand Nutrition programs. For three days our community’s meal champions took time out of their busy schedules to deliver meals to our homebound clients. Now 90 voices strong, our Silver Tones choir shows no signs of slowing down. Their concerts drew record crowds. We may add a second performance to each concert next season. This musical program is a rewarding way for older adults to share their talents and bring joy to others in our community. Help us stay connected to our community – please share SRAinformed with your friends and family. You never know when the resource will help someone in need. Sincerely, Karen B.
