Letter From Our President Dear Members of SACC-Philadelphia, It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as President of SACC-Philadelphia. We hope you will enjoy reading our latest edition of our SACC-Philadelphia Update (“SPU”), which highlights several successful events and activities from the first half of 2018. Our Chamber organized and participated in several successful events in 2018 including a business networking event celebrating Sweden’s history and business success in the Philadelphia Area. This event was hosted at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Essington and featured Dr. Kim-Eric Williams who highlighted Swedish history and Philadelphia’s Honorary Consul of Sweden, Ulf Åkerblom, who discussed Philadelphia’s benefits as a location for Swedish businesses. The Chamber also held a technology networking event featuring a panel discussion on the topic of EU’s new regulation on data privacy information (GDPR). Speakers included Jordan Fischer, (co-founder of XPan Law Group), Shiraz Saeed (national practice leader at Starr Companies), and Jennifer Lendler (President of Alea Advisors). Each of the panelists provided valuable insights on steps a business should take to comply with the GDPR. SACC-Philadelphia has planned several upcoming events including a networking event at a Philadelphia Union soccer game in July, the annual Crayfish Party in August, as well as the continuation of the monthly International Happy Hour. We hope you can join us for these upcoming events. SACC-Philadelphia is thankful for the hard work and contributions made by our current marketing and finance interns from Sweden. These interns included Amanda Nelzén (marketing) and David Johansson (finance). Our internship program has continued to be a valuable experience for our interns and the Chamber. We look forward to welcoming our new interns Simone Grund (marketing) and Stephanie Bien (finance) in July and August 2018. Finally, I would like to thank our members for your continued support. Very truly yours, David W. Engstrom President, SACC-Philadelphia page 4
