Skål Event
Skål- Scandinavian Drinking Traditions
On May 18, 2017 SACC-Philadelphia in collaboration with NACC-Philadelphia welcomed members
and non-members to business networking event at the American Swedish Historical Museum. This event
included a viewing of the Museum’s exhibition on Scandinavian drinking traditions. The business networking
portion of the event was held in a beautiful party tent overlooking Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park. Guests
enjoyed traditional Swedish appetizers provided by IKEA and refreshments provided by by YARDS Brewing
Company.
After networking, a presentation was made by Dean Browne, the business owner and creator of Rowhouse
Spirits in Pennsylvania, a distillery that specializes in Akvavit. Guests learned about the Scandinavian flavored
spirit and how Dean Browne started his own distillery. This presentation was followed by an opportunity to
try some Nordic Akvavit flavored with caraway, dill and fennel.
All guests who attended viewed the museum´s exhibition “Skål”, which included a collection of old
historical objects and information about Scandinavian drinking traditions trough time. The night ended
with a raffle with prizes, including an overnight stay at Club Quarters hotel, a beautiful watch from Daniel
Wellington, a membership at the American Swedish Historical Museum, a bottle of Whisterpig 12 year rye
Whiskey and more amazing prizes.
