Camp COMMUNITY SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS WANT TO VOLUNTEER OR BE A LEADER-IN-TRAINING (LIT)? LEADER-IN-TRAINING [LIT] (AGES 13 – 15) The LIT program provides senior campers with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, build teamwork skills, and to gain valuable knowledge and experiences, in a fun and positive environment. LITs will take on responsibilities associated with instructing and counselling while still being supervised. A letter acknowledging the completed hours can be issued upon request. LITs must be registered for a minimum of one full week, full day. LIT Price: $150.00 (1 week Full Day) Mandatory Orientation Training Session will be held close to the start of camp. For more information about the LIT Program or volunteering, please contact: VOLUNTEERS (16 YEARS AND OLDER) We welcome volunteers to assist the camp counsellors/instructors with the daily activities. A letter acknowledging the completed hours can be issued upon request. Spaces are limited. Must be 18 years or older and obtain a Police check from Toronto Police Services (at your own cost). Volunteers are required to pay a one-time fee only. They must be signed up for a full week, full day. Volunteer Price: $30.00 (Material package) Please note: Prices for LIT and Volunteers, include one free volunteer t-shirt and completion of a reference letter/Record of Volunteer Hours (ROVH). Letters and ROVH are done by request only. If Volunteer/LIT would like to participate in our excursions and/or specialty Friday lunch, extra fees will apply. Part of our philosophy at the Columbus Centre is to integrate children of diverse developmental backgrounds into our camp programs. We provide special needs counsellors (one-on-one or small groups) as determined by the Camp Director’s assessment and/or supplemented by a doctor’s note provided by the camper’s parent or guardian. Alternatively, we do welcome those campers who bring their own support worker. We would be happy to meet with families to discuss their child’s needs to ensure a positive camp experience. Please note: If you have a child with special needs, we require that you register by May 31, 2019. Additional fees will apply.
