Th is spring we launch a new program where people can learn or practice Italian in a relaxed and "simpatico" atmosphere outside
of a classroom. Come and join us to learn or polish your Italian, while doing yoga or enjoying a delicious meal and conversation at
Ristorante Boccaccio at the Columbus Centre.

Yoga is a discipline for the body, mind and spirit. It serves to make us
live better and happier. It's a healthy way to discover our roots, and
in this class, it will serve as a way to help us rekindle with the Italian
language.
This program will be conducted in Italian and will include some
physical stretches and positions (asana), relaxation, breathing
exercises, and a space for personal sharing (in English and Italian) to
embrace a feeling of community.
Instructor: Violante Binazzi is a yoga teacher and transformative
mindfulness facilitator. Trained as an art school teacher and
founder of the Integral Art Method, Violante has immersed
herself in yoga, meditation and mindfulness practices all around
the world for the past 12 years.
Join us for a delicious prix fixe dinner at Ristorante Boccaccio and
engage in lively conversations in Italian.
• Beginners: Each dinner will be devoted to learning Italian
in different practical situations, useful for travelling in Italy.
• Intermediate: Engage in conversation while learning new
Italian vocabulary in a pleasant and informal atmosphere.

“City Builders: A History of Immigrant
Construction Workers in Postwar Toronto”
Exhibition Display March 19 - March 31
Public Launch on Sunday, March 24 at 3:00pm
This exhibit features a multimedia exhibition, website, video
series, and a two-part documentary of the Italian, Irish,
Portuguese and other immigrant construction workers who built
Toronto. This display is dedicated to the history of these men and
their labour struggles in 1950s - 70s Toronto.
This exhibition will take part in this year’s “Myseum Intersections
2019” in March and is part of the larger City Builders project,
which was distinguished with the 2019 Lieutenant Governor's
Ontario Heritage Award for Excellence in Conservation.

Book Launch and Reading of “Stones into Bread” by Vito Teti
Followed by conversations with: Francesco Loriggio and
Damiano Pietropaolo

“Stones into Bread” by Vito Teti, Italian author, anthropologist,
and founder and director of the Centre for the Study of the
Anthropologies and the Literatures of the Mediterranean at the
University of Calabria, is a profound meditation on the Italian
South, Italian identity and culture, and migration.
Join us to celebrate the book launch of “Stones into Bread” by
Vito Teti. The event includes a discussion and readings by
translators Francesco Loriggio and Damiano Pietropaolo, and a
Skype presentation by Vito Teti who will be “joining in” from
Calabria. Free admission and refreshments.
