New Life “Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’” Revelation 21:5a During spring, all of creation comes to life. The plants and animals that were dormant during the winter months flourish in the sun’s radiance. Creation seems to testify to this profound truth: God can bring new life to all living creatures. God can give new life to you as well. You must understand though that you cannot achieve this new life by your own merits. Regardless of any “good deeds” you may do, God states in Romans 3:10, “There is no one righteous, not even one.” There are no righteous people because everyone is a sinner. According to Romans 3:23, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Since God is holy and man is sinful, we have come short of Him because our sins have separated us from Him. Although we, as sinners, cannot save ourselves, there is hope. God has offered everyone the gift of new life through Christ. According to Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This gift of God cannot be bought or earned. It has already been purchased through the blood of Christ. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus did for us what we could not do for ourselves. According to I Corinthians 15:3b-4, Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose again the third day. He paid the penalty for our sins through His death on the cross. There is nothing that you can do to save yourself because Christ already paid the price. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, it is only through Jesus’ sacrifice that you can have a new life and be saved from the penalty of sin, which is death—eternal separation from God in hell. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” You can have God’s gift of new life in Christ today! Jesus said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus has already paid the price. Will you now take God at His word and accept His free gift of salvation and new life through Jesus? If you would like to have new life in Christ, you may use the following prayer as a guide to express your desire to God: Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. Thank You for sending Your perfect Son to die in my place. I know that it is only through His sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection from the dead that I am able to have a new life in You. I now accept Your gift of life. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen If you have accepted God’s gift of new life, please let us know so we can encourage you and pray for you.
