Spring into Summer 2019 | Page 12

The 2019 Girl Scout Cookie Program has come to an end! We saw many amazing accomplishments from our girls, parents, and troop leaders and we can’t wait to hear about the amazing experiences our Girl Scouts have, supported by the Girl Scout

Cookie Program!

2019 Facts

• Over 677,000 packages of cookies were sold in 2019!

• More than $519,000 was earned by troops in proceeds!

• Over 1,000 cookie booths occurred this season at more than 300 local businesses!

• 2,376 packages of cookies were donated through the GSSNE Virtual Cookie Share program to local military organizations and food pantries, with even more being donated to local nonprofit organizations by troops and service units.

Highlights!

Volunteer Breakfast: We launched the 2019 season with our Volunteer Breakfast in November. Speakers included Alexandra Curtis, RI National Guard and former

Miss Rhode Island, who served as the 2019 Honorary Cookie Chair, and Kate Dubuque, Founder of Little Rhody Rescue, which was selected by girls, volunteers, and staff as

the 2019 Cookie Sale Community Service Project.

Cookie Rally: In January, girls, leaders, and family members participated in the

annual GSSNE Cookie Rally. Interactive activities helped the girls get ready for the

sale by focusing on the 5 skills that girls learn through participation: goal setting, business ethics, money management, people skills, and decision making.

After the rally, attendees enjoyed a Providence Bruins hockey game.

Cookie Pro 2019: Girl Scouts of the USA brought back

the Cookie Pro contest with all new amazing prizes!

Girls enter by sharing their unique cookie story for a

chance to head to sunny California and meet the

DC Super Hero Girls™, who—just like Girl Scouts—

are motivated, resilient, and determined to succeed!

All girls who entered Cookie Pro 2019 unlocked an

awesome, limited-edition Cookie Pro 2019 Patch.

Online payment: Last year we launched an epayments system for troops to be

able to submit cookie payments directly to GSSNE! The process is user friendly and immediate. In its second year, 533 payments were processed through the new

system, and we’re expecting to see an increase in use for 2020!

The 2019 Girl Scout Cookie Program

was a great success!
