COMPETE WITH ABA FLY-IN
to co-sponsor and introduce a senate
companion to H.R. 5082, the so-called
“Practice of Law Technical Clarification Act
of 2018.”

The American Bar Association (ABA)
hosted ABA Day 2018, the association’s
annual “fly-in” to Washington, D.C. Local
and state bar associations and bar leaders
from across the country assembled during
the three-day conference to advocate for
funding for the Legal Service Corporation
and the Public Service Loan Forgiveness
program.
North Dakota’s representatives are generally
very welcoming of the SBAND delegation.
This year, however, the Farm Bill and the
testimony of Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook
limited the time available to meet. Senators
John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp were
caught up in committee hearings or floor
votes while their senior staff started work on
the Farm Bill. Congressman Kevin Cramer
listened to Mr. Zuckerberg testify for five
hours before his Energy and Commerce
Committee met.
