Spring is upon us and the gloomy winter months are
nothing but a distant memory. I’m so excited for this
upcoming summer as we will be welcoming the newest
addition to our family, our second daughter. Just when I
thought there couldn’t be more estrogen in the house, we
find out we’re having another little girl!
My father-in-law had two girls and he survived. It has been
said that Dads always have a special place in their heart for
their little girls. I can honestly say that this is very true. There
is something so fragile and precious about a little version of
your wife running around the house, although I do see a lot
of myself in my eldest daughter Ella. She’s already pushing
around our accent table across the living room as she thinks
it would look better there. I would have to agree! The kid
has a knack for it.
This morning I looked out our dining room window that
overlooks our backyard and was reminded how our flower
garden that takes up half our backyard got away from us
last year. My goal this year is to pace myself, only bite off
what I can chew and hire for the rest. My mother always
said, “Make money doing something you love and are hire
for the rest.”
As June rolls around and we have a new baby in the
house, I’m looking at many sleepless nights. I’m not sure how
I’ll feel about coming home after a long day at work and
tending to the garden. Although, I’m forever an optimist so
one can only hope that I’ll be able to scrape up the energy
to tend to our enormous garden. And who knows, I may
want to use it as an escape from the constant crying and
chaos that comes with having a new little one in the house.
Have a wonderful spring!
