SPOTTED SADDLE HORSE NEWS Championship ISSUE 2016 | Page 3

To the members : As I write this letter to you , it is the week before Halloween and currently I am putting new shoe Madge ’ s and my trail horses as she packs the horse trailer for our Halloween ride vacation . I am reminiscing about the past events of SSHBEA ’ s 2016 . This has been a year of perseverance through hard work and determination . 2016 will be known as “ The Year We Began Our Growth ”. We tried new things as we attempted to maintain the ground we had gathered . There have been many members who have stepped up to the plate in the name of SSHBEA and it is apparent there is a core within our association who will not give up on the SSHBEA . Let me begin by saying “ Thank You ” to ALL the members who have organized , supported , participated with any of the events or trail rides that have happened in the name of SSHBEA . Remember , it is volunteer members who make the SSHBEA events successful ! Look at the many events around the country such as Illinois , Kentucky , Ohio , Minnesota , Alabama and Tennessee , just to name a few ! For the third year , I have had positive feedback from the 2016 Fall Show . As President , one of my personal goals was met this year ….. WE HAD PAYBACKS at the 2016 Fall Show ! There was a definite increase in audience participation throughout the show as well as an increase in class participation . In addition there was an increase in spectators and participants at the Competitive Trail Riding competition held in Woodbury , TN . I also want to say “ THANK YOU ” to Equitec for their partnership , and land owners like the Tenpennys , Cabes , and the Cannon County Walking Horse Association who have been so generous in supporting us and allowing us to use their facilities all in the name of SSHBEA . I am sure there are others that deserve to be mentioned , for those please accept my heart felt “ THANK YOU ”. In January , we will start another year with our Annual Meeting and Banquet . First , I will give to you the current state of the Association ; then I will hand the reins to a new President with a new Board of Directors . My message to YOU is , this is YOUR Association and you should feel an obligation to come and participate at the Annual Meeting . This is your opportunity to voice and give direction to the incoming President and Board of Directors as to the direction or directions that need to be taken . This is also your opportunity to tell the board members how you are going to help with an activity or volunteer for a committee . Afterwards that evening we will have the awards banquet with a wonderful meal , great camaraderie , dancing and fun . EVERYONE IS INVITED to purchase a ticket ! 2016 will be known as “ The Year We Began Our Growth ”; however , this is only one step in a positive direction . It is every members responsibility to help move forward toward our goal thru promoting our great breed , the Spotted Saddle Horse ! Remember , it takes ALL of us working together within ALL divisions of our association to be successful .
I hope to see YOU at the annual meeting and banquet ! However , I WILL see YOU on the Rail or on the Trail , Michael Sliger , President
