Caterpillar has added the new AD22
underground truck to its hard rock mining
product line. The 22 t payload
articulated dump truck is
the smallest in the
Cat ® product line,
yet it is designed
to
deliver
the productive
performance and
durability of its
proven, larger counterparts.
Its small operating envelope and
Joy Global’s 22HD LHD offers a bucket
capacity of 9 m 3 , static tipping loads of 48.2
kN, a breakout force (tilt) of 350 kN and an
operating weight of 58,968 kg
agile characteristics enhance productivity in any
mining application suited for this size class.
The AD22 makes best use of proven Cat
components, such as the C11 ACERT™ diesel
engine. The durable engine delivers gross power
of 242 kW to achieve superior speed on grade.
The new truck shares major components with a
number of Cat machines to help ensure
good parts availability and reduce
inventory costs.
The wide body design
makes loading faster and
easier. Multiple dump
body sizes are available to
optimise the truck for all
mining applications suited to this
size class.
The AD22 also takes advantage of
Caterpillar ergonomic designs to create
controls and instrumentation that help
operators perform efficiently. An easy-to-read
full colour LCD screen displays machine status.
Prior to the AD22 launch, Caterpillar Underground
Mining (CUGM) had acquired the intellectual
property of underground articulated truck designs
from Ground Force Worldwide. This provides
Caterpillar with additional design options in the
20 t and smaller payload class. The Ground
Force AT18E (18 t payload ejector) and AT20 (20
t payload) remain available for immediate order
via Ground Force Worldwide. The company
showcased the AT18E at MINExpo 2016.
