BRANDON – On May 13, the Brandon Wheat Kings beat the Seattle
Thunderbirds 8-4 to win the deciding game of the Western Hockey
League championship series. It was the third WHL title for Brandon
since the Wheat Kings joined the league in 1967. What is most
remarkable about this year’s team is that 11 regulars are products
of the minor hockey systems around Manitoba and six of the players
are from the City of Brandon itself. During the playoffs, our own
Jeff Miller went to Brandon and brought us back images of the
six Brandon players who make the Wheat Kings a truly home town
