Once again, we’ll catch up with a number of the star athletes who have been so sensational in 2015 Bisons Run Out of Gas in Canada West Semi-Final On the upside, the University of Manitoba Bisons football team reached the Canada West playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. On the downside, they lost the semifinal game 52-10 to the UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver on Nov. 6. It’s one of those games you don’t want to remember, so we won’t. Let’s just suggest, that it’s probably safe to say, Coach Brian Dobie and the Bisons have some off-season work to do. Manitoba Names High Performance Figure Skating Team The members of Manitoba’s new High Performance Figure Skating Team are preparing to compete against the country’s best skaters at the 2016 Skate Canada Challenge Competition in Edmonton, Alberta, December 2-6. The team was selected at the 2016 Skate Canada Manitoba Sectional Championship in Morris, Manitoba, on Nov. 7 and 8. The national competition in Edmonton will feature approximately 500 skaters from across the country, including PreNovice, Novice, Junior and Senior level skaters in Men’s, Women’s, Pairs and Ice Dance. This is the only opportunity for Novice, Junior and Senior skaters to qualify for the 2016 Canadian Tire Figure Skating Championships, in Halifax, N.S., from Jan. 22-24, 2016.
