Doug Kovacs, the head coach of the Grant Park Pirates
football team, has a very special place in his heart for
Winnipeg’s annual High School Football Championship
Weekend.
“This is as good as it gets,” he said during the on-line TV
broadcast of the four championship games at Investors

In the Fourth Divsion final at the Bison East Field on
Thursday, Brandon Neelin beat St. Norbert 14-13 while

Spartans ripped the Oak Park Raiders 48-21.
In the Currie (Class A) Division final, Beaver Brae built
an early 14-0 lead on a first-quarter 99-yard touchdown
pass from quarterback Dylan Andrews to tailback Eric
Melillo and then a second-quarter 34-yard TD p \
