It is with great
pleasure that in lo-
cal circles, Sports
Union Magazine is
dubbed the “Soc-
cer magazine” as
we pride ourselves
in giving the most
copious
amounts
of local soccer cov-
erage of any local
outlet both at the
collegiate and High
School levels.
After many years
of not wanting to
join in the fray of
year end awards,
we at Sports Union
Boys
decid-
ed that
after watch-
ing nearly 50 high
school and college
soccer
matches
since mid-August
that we may present
our own All-WNY
squad considering
we have witnessed
these players on
the pitch and ar-
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Matthew
Clifford
Defense
Frontier
According to the multiple college coaches
regularly witnessed on the sidelines
watching Frontier matches, Clifford is the
most college ready prospect in all WNY. As
a defender, he’s a player that every coach
has to game plan for and is dynamic in his
physical abilities. A complete package, he
is a threat on offense as well as defense.
A four-year varsity starter, Clifford plays
for the WNY Flash in the club season.
en’t swayed by rep-
utation or statistics
alone.
While no “all-star”
list can be perfect,
we feel that these
22 players repre-
sent some of the
best players in all
the Western New
York College Com-
munity. Feel free to

comment, respect-
fully, on our selec-
tions and add to the
conversation. One
thing is for sure, all
these
gentlemen
are
outstanding
players and a plea-
sure to watch play
football.
