The start of the AFL season is always the best time of year for us footy fans. The summer has just ended and autumn comes with the optimism that this could be the year for your team.

Heck even the Demons could win the Grand Final this year! So following in the tradition of the AFL’s new marketing campaign ‘Anything is Possible’. Here are my top 10 bold predictions for the 2014 AFL season.

Dustin Martin to Win the Brownlow

There is no better fend in the AFL than Dustin Martin, the Richmond Tigers young gun took his game to another level following some strict counselling from Tigers assistant coach Mark Williams.

This change in mindset made Martin a better player and improved his game significantly, it saw him poll 16 votes for a team that had previously not played finals for a long time, and was actually fighting for the last spot in the 8 until late last year.

He has polled in a total of 21 games in his 85 game career which sits him above average in polling for the competition. Expect him to play in a new role this year which will see him set up a lot more of the Tigers attack from the half back.

Which in turn will make Martin more eye catching for the umpires and realistically increase his chances of taking the ‘Charlie’ home at the end of the season.
