Blairgowrie John Cunningham is a club supporter and well known businessman with his company Cunningham Carpets. He recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “If I am honest I am not a rugby fan but when the boys invited me down to the club I enjoyed the crack so much that I continued to go there. The club and its members do a great amount of work in our local community and with the young people. It’s good to see them enjoying so much success this season. Myself and everyone at Cunningham Carpets would like to wish everyone associated with Blairgowrie Rugby Club continued success!” Blairgowrie and Aberfeldy COMMERCIAL AND DOMESTIC Whether you are a homeowner fitting a new carpet or flooring into your lounge or kitchen, a business owner re-laying your office, or a developer with an entire housing development to be covered, we can provide a professional and reliable service that is tailored to your individual requirements. The team made history by coming away with a 28-6 victory over Dundee Medics. Next up for the side was the BT National Bowl semi-final as they took on a Strathendrick side that had lost just one game all season for a place at Murrayfield. With just ten minutes to go things were not looking good for the side as they found themselves trailing 17-6 but they managed to produce a terrific comeback to clinch the victory 20-17. They will now take on Portobello RFC on Saturday 22nd April as they look to clinch the trophy to round off a fantastic campaign. Speaking to Rugby Club Magazine about their recent success, Club President Fraser Bissett said, “2016/2017 season has been one of the best seasons that Blairgowrie RFC has experienced for a number of years and with a new coaching staff, an influx of youth and the combination of a wealth of senior players it has been a good recipe for a successful season. “We started off the season by winning our own 10s tournament for the second time in 22 years. We are currently 4th in a competitive Midlands Caledonian II league and just a fortnight ago we won the Regional Midlands Bowl in a keenly contested Final.” One of the highlights of the clubs set up is their Junior ‘Blairgowrie Rams’ Club that sees more than 40 youngsters at micro, Mini and Midi Rugby level playing the game. They also have an U18 Blairgowrie High School team and an U16s side that is combined with local school Breadalbane Academy. www.sportip.biz 69
