Wild Boar Clay Pigeon Club Atmosphere “We have a really good core of regulars who turn out in all weathers but the move to the new site has taken us away from the pub where it all started, the Wild Boar at Wincle, and this has had an effect on the après shoot social. That said this year’s Christmas shoot had a record attendance and the pub visit and raffle was well attended afterwards. So overall, I think the members are enjoying their shooting which is important.” Community “I think our club serves a wide community within the shooting scene; we are on the Cheshire/Derbyshire border and there are a good few clubs around. Shooting is a popular pastime in this area and like the whole of the UK, is on the increase so we manage to pull people in from a good distance away but it’s a sport people will travel for so we must be doing something right. A big event last year was a charity shoot held to raise funds for a local village which had a large industrial unit explode causing some fatalities and destroying several properties. We contributed over £3000 with an evening shoot.” Challenges “Like many clubs, costs are always a concern whether that’s maintaining and replacing equipment or the weekly clay costs, so balancing the books whilst offering challenging but good value shooting will always remain a priority. With so much choice in the area we must be careful not to get complacent and keep on top of what the membership want.” Ambitions “Our ambitions are to increase membership and weekly attendance numbers. Sounds easy! We have a fabulous piece of land to use so the future is about developing it in such a way that we can offer more variety in the targets we present and the shooting we offer in all weathers and really utilise all its potential. This will be a big effort by the members on work days and we have some very generous benefactors who offer metal work and gravel and such. We have people with vision for what could be done so ideas aren’t a problem, the next few years should be fun.” Fork Truck Tyres based in Manchester offers on-site experienced fitter's, with vast information on all makes of Forklift Truck Tyres.
