Wild Boar Clay Pigeon Club

he Wild Boar Clay Pigeon Club was first established in 1976 and provides people in Cheshire with the chance to take part in clay pigeon shooting in a friendly environment surrounded by beautiful countryside . Their Chairman , Michael Rix took the time to tell us more about the club .
Involvement
He told us , “ I personally have been shooting regularly at WBCPC for about two and a half years mostly at our new site , the club has been running for some 37 years . For me it is close to my home and offered a friendly shooting environment shooting a style called SPORTING which simulates a variety of target types . It is good value for money and I wanted to start shooting more as a means of practicing . I liked the club so much that I felt I wanted to get involved more and when the position of chairman was becoming available I thought I would put my hand up .”
The Role
“ I am part of a great committee team so admin challenges that arise are handled swiftly by some very able people , getting enough shooters to keep the piggy bank healthy whilst remaining good value for money remains a challenge .
I think the difficult part is organising the willing volunteers into a coherent plan , and getting people together for work party days . When it all works and we put on a challenging days shooting for all abilities it ’ s a great place to shoot . I particularly enjoy designing course layouts , it is quite a creative challenge .”
About
“ We put on a Sporting style shoot of 50 birds . So at each stand , clay targets are presented to the shooter from a variety of directions , speeds and heights . The idea is to simulate different types of live quarry that you might encounter out in the field . You can become a member and that offers certain benefits of price and entry to competitions but we always welcome guests . We have a couple of big trophy shoots throughout the year and each week the different class winners get a little prize . Within the club we have a couple of instructors who can take novices round .”
