a mixture volunteers and appointed staff that
receive a modest honorarium for the many
hours they put in. It is not a requirement,
but generally all the staff are either, or have
been, active members of the Club.
This structure has enabled us to have
enthusiastic and dedicated staff and at the
same time keep costs low. This has resulted
in not only a friendly well-run club, but also
one of the cheapest to belong too, including
municipal run facilities.
We are far from complacent, however,
squash has to compete against many other
leisure activities, and we know we must
continue to attract new members if the club
is to continue to thrive. We are particularly
seeking to attract more female members, so
we are using social media to promote the
Club and show what we have to offer.
Over the years we have self-financed
the improvements we have made to our
facilities. This has become harder and more
expensive with the limitations of our current
site. We appointed a sub-committee from the
two clubs, to look into how we could finance
and continue to develop to meet future
needs. Our aim is to continue to offer a great
sporting experience at a friendly well-run
club for many years to come.
