Crowthorne Archers

rowthorne Archers is based at St Sebastian ’ s PFT Sports Club in Wokingham for their outdoor shooting and Sandhurst Sports Centre in Berkshire for their indoor shooting . They are led by Chairperson Paul Carr who is supported by Secretary Nick Lee and the club is looking to progress under their guidance .

The club is primarily a target archery club with the majority of their members shooting the recurve bow . They do also welcome most other types of bow such as the longbow .

The club is always keen to welcome more members and invite people of all ages to give archery a try to see if they enjoy the sport . It is a sport that can allow for whole family participation and the club is able to provide high quality instruction and equipment for people looking to learn . As long as people have a responsible attitude the sport is easier than many to learn with no specific physical requirements .

Many of the Crowthrone Archers take part purely for enjoyment but the option is also there to go on and compete at a high level . Their member ’ s record in competition speaks for itself with some having represented Berkshire in the adult recurve , adult longbow and junior teams . The success of their juniors is particularly noticeable with some British records being broken and perhaps the highlight being two archers representing Great Britain .

The club is always keen to welcome visitors and give them a chance to shoot . In order to do so you must have an Archery GB Membership Card or proof of membership with another club .

In the summer months the club shoots twice though the week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and then again on Sunday mornings . During the winter months they shoot on a Wednesday evening and a Saturday afternoon . They do also shoot on a Sunday morning depending how the weather is .

There is much to admire about the fine set up that Crowthorne Archers currently has in place and this is thanks to all of the hard work that goes into making the club a success . They do a fine job of giving people a chance to take part in the sport in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst giving them a chance to reach their full potential . If they continue in the same manner then they should be able to look forward to a bright and successful future .
