Durham City FOLLOW US ONLINE twitter.com/sportinprofile Durham City Golf Club D urham City Golf Club is based on Rosebay Road, Littleburn in Langley Moor and is one of the oldest inland clubs in England. The club was first inaugurated in the historic cathedral city in 1887 and has gone on to put together a history to be proud of. The club has retained its traditional values whilst adapting to the times in order to stay modern and takes a welcoming stance towards both members and visitors. A major part of the warm welcome that they offer people is the friendly clubhouse which offers a bar, lounge and restaurant that is open to the public. As a club they offer social nights for all ages and they are also able to cater for 44 Issue 15 a wide variety of events. Having such fine facilities helps the club to play an important role in their local community and also has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue which is particularly important in the current financial climate. The course itself is a challenge for golfers of all abilities with subtly sloped greens and gentle terrain making it a testing but enjoyable challenge. As well as this it is a picturesque parkland course with trees lining the fairways and the river Browney flanking it and is available to play on all year round. To further boost a visitors experience they also have their Head Professional, Tom Cranfield, who is always willing to share his wealth of knowledge in coaching.
