Celebrations 2017
“The club held a summer ball, an opportunity for some
of the club members to display their specially commissioned
anniversary blazers. Cricket Week started with a T20 against
Twickenham who were the opposition 175 years ago. On the
Sunday, the club played MCC in glorious sunshine. Spectators
were entertained with an afternoon tea whilst a marching band
performed in the interval. 75 years ago, the club ran a similar
event to celebrate 100 years, also with a marching band.
As if that was not enough the club played the PCA England
Masters again. Ali Brown scored a century for England while
Gareth Macaskill hit a hundred to help Banstead win at the
third time of trying. Finally, the club produced anniversary
programmes and a weekly newsletter packed with club history
and an anniversary ale. It has been a busy year but g
