CRICKET CLUB
Lindum CC was first formed in 1856 with
Minor Counties cricket having been
played at the blub for over 100
years. Perhaps their greatest
achievement came when
the U15 side won the
ECB U15 National Club
Competition. Sport in
Profile Magazine was
keen to find out more
about the good work
the club has been doing
lately
and
recently
caught up with their
chairman Nick Rollett.
Atmosphere
He told us, “The mood here is very
positive. We are giving youth its chance
to shine at First Team level and throughout the
club we are seeing huge levels of participation. The
16 Issue 15
recent All Stars initiative for children between five and eight
years of age has seen an explosion in engagement
with boys and girls of that age group. We are
very hopeful of that initiative bringing
into the club a whole new set of young
playing members and parents.”
2017
“We are in a transitional season
in terms of our First Team as
we have lost a number of key
senior players. This has given
youth its chance at that level
but understandably has had
knock on effects throughout
the rest of the playing levels
within the club. After a slow
start, our other Saturday teams
are beginning to pick up some
encouraging results. We have lots of
junior sides and there is almost not a
night goes by without a game being played
on our beautiful ground in the shadow of the
cathedral.”
