Bromley CRICKET CLUB

Bromley CC suffered the disappointment of relegation last season but have worked hard since then and is enjoying a much improved campaign this time around . Sport in Profile Magazine recently caught up with their Cricket Chairman Andrew Caswall to find out more .
Involvement
He told us , “ My introduction to Bromley CC was in 1978 . The then Colts manager Frank Harris used to attend all the Kent County Junior games , on the lookout , scouting for players . At the time there was very little in the way of mid-week cricket post school and this proved a very successful initiative . Frank sadly didn ’ t live to see his efforts come to fruition , but the Bromley 1st XI of the 90 ’ s that won three consecutive Kent Premier League titles as well as four runners up spots contained seven juniors that came through this system .”
The Role
“ The biggest challenge has to be covering the nightmare that is administration . What we are required to do in regard to Clubmark and Child Protection , as well as all the work needed for the Kent League , Kent Regional League and North West Kent Junior League presents a massive challenge for a committee of volunteers . This is against the back drop of a sport where we are generally finding that less people , for whatever reason , are needing to be doing more .”
Atmosphere
“ Last season can best be described as a partial success . We lost our Premier League Status for the first time in our history , leaving only one club , Sevenoaks Vine , which has not suffered that fate . However we have come back this season with a fighting spirit with both 1st and 2nd XIs with an outside chance of promotion and the 3rd and 4th XIs in with a very good chance of 3rd spot in their respective divisions .
Add that to the positive vibe that is coming from the Junior Section and all in all , we are in pretty good shape . Our Ethos of providing totally inclusive competitive cricket irrespective of level and ambition is beginning to show dividends .”
This Season
“ This season has gone well . Apart from what I have mentioned above , the Junior Section is thriving . We have two Under 9 ’ s teams that have reached Finals Days of the Kent Super 8 ’ s , a competition that we won last year . The Under 12s have reached the Final of The Harry Bright Cup where we are again defending champions , as well as winning for the second year running the HSBC Hardball Tournament . The Under 14s have again reached the Final of the Frank Knott Cup and are
