Massereene Massereene GOLF CLUB Massereene Golf Club was first established in 1895 and has gone on to put together a history of which they have every right to be proud. They are led by the team of President Mr J M H McNeil and Lady President Mrs V Saunders and are looking to progress under their guidance. Set on the shores of Lough Neagh, Northern Ireland, the parkland course itself is a challenging and picturesque 18- hole par 72 that is a total of 6,603 yards playing off of the championship tees. It offers some terrific views of the local area and is suitable for golfers of all abilities. The front nine holes are tree lined with many well placed bunkers whilst the back nine have drier fairways that bear a greater resemblance to a links course. The narrow fairways and small greens on the course make accuracy the priority rather than distance and ensure that anyone visiting will find it a testing experience. After completing a round visitors can be sure that th ey will receive a warm welcome at the clubhouse with the option for quiet drinks, snacks or a meal at the restaurant all available. They have the facilities to accommodate small or large groups and can host corporate functions, special events or celebrations. This has the potential to provide the club with a valuable source of additional revenue which is particularly important in the current financial climate. All of this together makes the course a popular one for societies and organisations as does their flexible approach and golf packages. There is also a fully stocked Pro Shop which has something for everyone. This is also a golf club which is committed to the future of the game and this is shown by the thriving youth section that they currently run. This part of the club is led by the team of Mr Jim Smyth, Mrs June Rossborough and Mrs Noreen Hurst. The club prides itself on being a junior and beginner friendly establishment that helps players reach their full potential in a safe and enjoyable environment. There is much to admire about the fine set up that Massereene Golf Club currently has in place and this is thanks to all of the hard work that has gone into making it a success. If they continue in the same manner then they should be able to look forward to a bright and successful future for many years to come.
